Camino Forum Store Special!

Each book ordered will include (at no extra cost):

- 1 "Camino Passport" (from the Cathedral in Santiago)

Also get 1 The "Caminos to Finisterre & Muxía Guide" free with this book (if this is of interest, please select it in the drop down when you order).

This guidebook begins in Villaviciosa, which is on the Camino del Norte, for those pilgrims who want to combine the two routes.  Pilgrims starting in Oviedo can therefore skip the first few pages.

The guidebooks include:

  • The same comprehensive accommodation directory.  Including all albergues. Hotels, paradors, casa rurales, pensions, and camp sites. For albergues you will know: how many beds (including private rooms) the albergue has and how much they cost, phone number, months (and hours) open,  and whether the albergue accepts non-pilgrims or reservations.  You will also know whether they have a bar/restaurant, a kitchen for your use, whether they serve a group dinner, have vegetarian options, wifi, laundry facilities, or bicycle storage.
  • City by city information. Navigation tips and cautions, historical references, a list of available service (pharmacies, restaurants, atms, that kind of stuff) and dates for local fiestas.
  • Large Scale Maps:  Large Scale Maps with no pre-determined stages. These maps are at the start of the book and are the best reference for anyone wanting to plan ahead without having to flip through the book.
  • Elevation Profile:  The elevation profile sits alongside the large scale maps, giving you a better overview of the terrain ahead.
  • City Maps: Lots and lots of city maps.  From the small villages to the regional capitals, if there is more than one option for accommodation a map is included to help you find it.  These maps are inline with the guide and also show the nearest grocery, albergue, pharmacy, atm, and other bits.
  • Detours and alternative routes: The camino splits in a few places, and when it does an overview is provided to help you visualize the option ahead.

Created Responsibly

The guidebook has been produced to be climate neutral, and is printed in Santiago de Compostela.

The Camino Primitivo

I found the book to be really helpful and being pocket sized was easy to pull ou for a quick reference. The maps also proved to be quite useful. I will certainly be buying another Camino guide for my next adventure.

Handy and practical

I did El Camino Primitivo from Oviedo by myself in June 2018 and this little guide was all I had and needed. I used my phone only twice because it was just faster, being very tired. But with the sing-posting on the field and this guide you shouldn't need anything else. The format is small, easy to handle on the go and the information is well structured and only the essential things. Based on my experience I would say that the accuracy was about 80% but I find that more than acceptable considering the long distance, the big number of Albergues, bars, restaurants, small villages and all the information that comes with all that.

Very helpful guidebook

The guidebook was very helpful, the distance between places (villages / cities) are clearly stated, also I found very helpful the lists of bars and shops on the way, as well as lists of albergue / hostels / hotels whose location is clearly marked on the map. Very helpful and for any recommendation.

Good resource! !

Good - I bought the Norte as well and they are a great source for planning our Camino in mid- May. Will have to see how they do on Camino. Ordering very easy and mail service (Spain/Canada) didn’t take too long. Glad the Forum Shop is there - thanks.

Camino Primitivo

I will be using the item in middle of 2020. I will let you know how I find the way. I will be starting walking from Carcassonne in march 2020. But I can not find much from there to Somport Pass. From there I go on to Puente la Reina and join Camino Frances. I will have to get information from pilgrims along the way.
