Seasons
The route is best experienced in spring or autumn, though summer months are most popular. Winter pilgrims may encounter snow at higher elevations.

Difficulty
The trek is suitable for all walking levels. No special equipment is necessary and stages are graded from easy to difficult.

Must See
The Camino Francés begins on the French-Spanish border and heads west across the Pyrenees, fertile valleys and vast plains of northern Spain to the tomb of St James the Apostle in Santiago de Compostela. It passes some of Spain's most important artistic and architectural treasures, like the majestic cathedrals of Burgos and León, as well as countless smaller medieval masterpieces.

Camino Frances Guide

We used the Guidebook everyday while walking the Camino Frances last summer - and will be using it again this September. Prior to our arrival in Spain - the book provided us with gear options and information on what to expect once on the trail. While walking, the guidebook was invaluable for route planning, sites of interest, and places to stay.

2020/21 edition written for the 2022 walking year: Camino Frances Guide and map book - includes Finisterre finish (W/FREE Passport)

Book and maps look great, though they are heavy to carry. The credential is very nice, much nicer than the one I got when walking the GR65 in France - Le Puy to St John PdP.

Excellent guide..missing Passport

Hello friends, I want you to first know that I support your organization and the excellent information and forum you provide. The service is quite valuable to pilgrims everywhere. My only complaint is that I don't think I got the advertised passport. Maybe I don't know what I am looking for but I only got the 2 orders of two books in plastic sleeves. Anyway, the books are marvelous and will be instrumental in my upcoming trip.

Ivar is wonderful!

The book itself is quite nice, and I would definitely recommend it. But my true praise goes to Ivar, who is an absolute gem of a person. I was in the middle of a move and he was very accommodating with changing shipping locations and making sure things go smoothly. I'm not sure if I'll be walking the Camino this summer after all, but I'm certainly going to use this book when I do!

2020 sadly Cancelled

Due to the pandemic we will not be able to go on the walk this year. However; the book has wonderful detailed maps and instructions in 2 separate booklets. It’s larger and heavier than other guidebooks but still a good resource for planning, which is all that we’re able to do at this point. But it’s a great distraction, like looking through the Christmas catalogue as a child, and imagining all the fascinating things ahead.
