We are very happy with the umbrellas having purchased two for our current Camino on the Via de la plata. The only issue had been the locking collar breaking on first erecting the umbrella for the first time. I would suggest that the manufacturer make this collar out of aluminium instead of plastic.
In May this year I start Camino Frances in Saint Jean Pied de Port.I have already tried umbrella several times and believe that it will be useful.
Un folds easily is light and compact and fits back into its carrying case smoothly.
I have used these trekking umbrellas since 2100. When the handsfree variety came out I bought it and loved it. And when the telescopic version came out I bought it for myself and have made a present of it to one of my daughters and her husband. Even under windy conditions, reinforcing the way the umbrella is fixed to the backpack straps, the umbrella manages to maintain its strength.
Way too heavy.
